The underwater experience you get from the PowerVision PowerRay Explorer underwater drone is so immersive, you’ll be surprised your clothes aren’t wet.
Ever wish you could do underwater exploring without having to invest in equipment and scuba lessons to actually dive in? Now you can.
And if you do dive or snorkel, haven’t you wished you could take a look before heading underwater? Wouldn’t it be great to know where you’ll experience the best sights and avoid hazards?
You can do that, too.
The PowerVision PowerRay Explorer is an unmanned underwater robot that serves as your underwater eyes while you’re on the surface — whether you plan to stay there or intend to dive in.
PowerRay beams back live views from beneath the surface — while it records everything it sees in ultra-high-definition 4K video or 12MP stills.
The PowerVision PowerRay Explorer lets you:
The imagery recorded by the PowerVision PowerRay’s high-performance camera is of high quality because the camera is, too.
The wide-angle field of view is 95 degrees. The camera can shoot 12MP stills in bursts of 1/3/5 frames per second. ISO settings range from 100 to 1600, and you can choose to have the PowerRay set the ISO automatically. The aperture is fixed at f2.8 — a wide opening that works well in the dark underwater environment.
To illuminate its surroundings underwater, the PowerVision PowerRay has two bright lights. You can adjust the output. Maximum output on each beam is 450 lumens.
The lights not only help the camera see what’s ahead, but also help you light the way if you’re handholding the PowerRay while you’re diving or snorkeling. The PowerVision PowerRay’s smart design includes two built-in handles at the rear.
The PowerVision PowerRay Explorer has two strong electric motors to power it through the water horizontally. Those two motors also are used to steer the sub. It has another motor that lets it ascend and dive on your command. The Explorer can cruise at 3 knots — about 4 miles per hour.
PowerRay can dive to a depth of 98 feet. It lets you know how deep it is, accurate to within 4 inches. It can travel up to 168 feet — the length of the communication cord that connects it to the base station.
In any season, PowerRay can handle the water temperature. It functions in water from 32 degrees Fahrenheit to 104F.
Using WiFi, PowerRay transmits what it sees. You’ll see the video live in high definition — 720p at 30 fps or 1080p at 25 fps, while the Explorer records in 4K ultra-high-definition. The live video transmission range is 262 feet. The live feed shows on the screen of the smartphone or tablet that you link to your remote controller.
The PowerVision PowerRay Explorer helps you remember your fantastic voyage because it records videos and stills to the included 36GB of memory. Once you download to your computer, you’ll have the images forever, and you’ll be able to edit them for quality.
In a hurry to share? PowerRay lets you share instantly to Facebook, Wechat and Instagram. Or you can edit first on your computer and share from there any way you want.
The commands you send wirelessly from your remote controller are relayed to the Explorer through the included base station. You can command your underwater robot when you’re as far from the base station as 32 feet.
The PowerVision PowerRay uses a communication cable to send your commands to the PowerRay. The Explorer cord is 168 feet long.
